Cardiovascular Pharmacology & Toxicology

High blood pressure and its consequences are among the leading causes of illness and death in the United States and the cardiovascular group is particularly interested in understanding blood pressure control in health and disease.

In particular, the cardiovascular group is studying the connections between salt intake or obesity on blood pressure control mechanisms. These investigators use state of the art molecular, cellular and integrative approaches to study vascular function and neural control of blood pressure.

The goal of this research is identify new drugs that can be used to treat high blood pressure and its consequences, including stroke.
