Immunopharmacology & Toxicology
Immunopharmacology and immunotoxicology are dynamic and rapidly-growing areas of interest within the department.
Research in this area is broad in scope and ranges from studies focused on elucidation of cell and molecular mechanisms of cannabinoid and dioxin-mediated immune modulation to investigations identifying the underlying role of the innate immune system in idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury.
Similarly, mechanistic research is being conducted to determine the role of inflammation in liver injury during cholestasis as well as the effect of synthetic food additives on immune cell differentiation and downstream immune responses.
